Here are some new poems I've been working on inspired by my main man Joseph Campbell: March 26, 1904 – October 30, 1987, was an American mythologist, writer and lecturer, best known for his work in comparative mythology and comparative religion. His work is vast, covering many aspects of the human experience. His philosophy is often summarized by his phrase: "Follow your bliss." (from Wikipedia)
Bossi gave me a copy of "The Power of Myth" (thank you Bossi!) for Christmas and here are some of the thoughts that have transpired:
My Goldfish is a god
The ant scurrying across
the radiator
is a god
fashioned in the image of
That Which Transcends
All Things
that cosmological
whiz bang
that when we speak of
we quadrant off
to time
to space
a line drawn in the sand
around driftwood.
pen.
paper.
an old notebook
your mother gave you,
Divine.
this concept
perhaps difficult
for a girlfriend
standing perplexed
in the doorway
she is Shiva, Vishnu,
Brahman
all the same.
Lord Protector.
The Creator & Destroyer
of Worlds.
That Which Transcends
All Things.
The Wheel, Broken
Living
Killing
Eating
Living
Killing
Eating
Living
Killing
Eating
Living
Killing
Eating
Living
Killing
Eating
Hopefully
Transcending.
More To Come Folks! I'll keep reading and writing, y'all keep checking back! *and Hopefully Transcending :)
